Resolutions to Have More Fun in 2020

Resolutions to Have More Fun in 2020

New year, new decade - have you resolved for less work and more play in 2020? We have!  That’s why we’re always coming up with something new and fun here at Elsie Kaye Glassworks. You don’t have to go far to get your creative juices flowing. And what better time to do it than right around “Galentine’s Day”?

Stacking Rings Workshop - Tuesday January 23, from 6-8pm

It’s not every day that you get to wear goggles and melt metal at a Ladies Night Out. Get all the fun of working with metals without having to clean up afterwards. Come to Elsie Kaye Glassworks to learn basic metalsmithing and soldering techniques in our studio. Bring your friends and make your own stackable rings - perfect for a gift or as a treat to yourself. Space is limited to 10, so grab your spots here.

Silver Clay in a Day - Saturday January 25, from 10am-5pm

If you really want to roll up your sleeves and create silver jewelry without all the hot torches and goggles, then we’ve got the workshop for you. We’ll create metal jewelry using special metal clay, covering all the basic and advanced techniques of rolling, texturizing stamping, shaping, coiling, layering, drilling and embellishing.  Once you have created your special pieces, we’ll fire them in the kiln right there during the workshop, and cover any post-firing finishing such as brushing, polishing, tumbling, and patina so that you can take your finished creations home that day. Don’t worry, no experience necessary! We have certified Art Clay Instructor Julie Booras here to walk you through everything you need to know to work with metal clay. Spots are limited, so sign up herenow.

Silver Stamping Workshop – Friday January 31, from 6:30-9pm

Looking for a laid back craft while you chat and snack with your friends? Then reserve your spots for our Silver Stamping workshop next week. In this two-part project, we’ll teach you some basic metal stamping techniques with easy tools to create a unique stamped memento. Next, you’ll learn to wire it with a handcrafted glass bead and small gemstone to create your choice of necklace or bangle. Even though it’s a slightly larger class, spots for this popular event sell out quickly, so register herebefore they fill up.

Thumbprint Keepsakes - Sunday February 2, from 10am-4pm

Need an excuse to get out of the house and do something fun with your daughter, sister, mother, or just your friends? Come with someone you love and make thumbprint keepsakes with Julie Booras of Heart & Stone Jewelry. You’ll each get to make a thumbprint in sterling silver with several personalization options. You can choose from various shapes and sizes… you’ll even get to make a charm or a keychain out of your unique memorabilia.

Our thumbprint keepsakes are a wonderful shared activity. Come by yourself or with your child to make a sweet personal gift for someone special like a grandparent. Appointments are 30 minutes each, so you’ll have plenty of time to grab lunch here in town before or after for a fun day out.
